Welcome to Spring ‘09!
60 Days to Memorial Day Weekend!
We’ve finally made it! Even though it’s still pretty chilly out, Spring is here and the warmer days can’t be too far off……
This Winter will definately go down as one of the longest in memory. I’m not sure if it’s my advancing age, but the long cold days of Winter seem to last longer as each year passes.
I know I’m not the only person that must feel this way - the boardwalk is packed today….. people just wanting to breathe some fresh air and feel the warmth of the Sun.
There’s plenty of guys out in the water too, even though the water is only 40 degrees and the Surf is a mushy waist high.
Boxes have begun to arrive at the Shop, another sure sign that better days can’t be too far off!
Boy, I love Spring!!!!
GSI introduces Meyerhoffer Design
Global Surf Industries introduces Meyerhoffer Longboard
Global Surf Industries has just announced the release of the Meyerhoffer Longboard…… it is arguably the most radical longboard design innovation in the last generation. World renowned industrial designer Thomas Meyerhoffer always in search of new designs has given us a new Surfboard design that will increase the ultimate surfing experience and propel surfing into the mainstrean consciousness more than ever before.
Each section of the board is optimized for maximum performance, the design evolving into an incredibly complex shape with three different bottom contours that transition smoothly into each other with its own purified purpose in an organic and seamlessly effective shape.
From the wide tail through a minimal waist and into a more classic nose, the design brings shortboard elements into a longer board to maximize speed and maneuverability, provides paddling ease and high performance nose riding. Every element of the board provides the ability for smooth transition from front to back.
The boards are constructed with GSI’s SLX - Super Lightweight Epoxy technology to ensure maximum responsiveness. The boards are available in four length’s, 7′6″, 8′0″, 9′2″ and 9′6″. Prices range from $645.00 - $895.00.
The boards are being officially introduced Noosa Festival in Australia, March 15-22. We should at least have a demo in stock in the Shop by early April…….. Be sure to stop by and check it out!

Things are still moving along nicely……… we’ve started moving the surfboards back in……. (Wait till you see the new rack setup!!!!). The trailer with the counters and racks returns tomorrow and the computers should be back online by the end of the week. We’ve got lots of new inventory waiting to hit the racks. The surf report is back online and we should be there working on the weekend. Stop by and say HI!
Monday March 17th
Happy St Pat’s Day!!!! We seem to be cruising along with the repairs now. The painting is basically completed and we’ve begun the general shop clean-up. The carpet is scheduled to be installed next Monday, then we’ll begin the process of putting everything back together. New inventory has begun to arrive and as soon as we get the computers back we’ll be able to get things labelled and ready to sell.
We’re now optimistically hoping to open on Saturday April 19th…….. the day of the Blood Drive for Dean Randazzo. We’ll keep everyone updated!
Sunday March 8th
Welcome to Daylight Savings Time!!!! Hopefully that means the beginning of many after work sessions in the months to come…… We continue to work away in the Shop. If anything I’m a bit more optimistic then I was a couple weeks ago. The Girls side has come to gether with all the new ceilings installed and the painting underway. We’ve pretty much completed the renovations on the Guys side and are well underway painting. By weeks end all the painting in the Shop should be comepleted. Next step will be waiting for the carpets. After that we can begin to put the Shop back in shape.
We’re looking foward to getting back online……. We’ll keep you informed!
Tuesday March 4th
Slow progress continues on the repair front in the Shop. Barry and Brian Dalton have been working very hard to get the repairs going……… Working at the top of the scaffolding upstairs at 20′ is really not too much fun! The ceiling on the girls side is due to be replaced in the next few days. Hopefully we’ll be able to start re-painting by the weekend and get the new carpeting installed by the following weekend.
New merchandise has also begun to arrive. With a little luck we’ll finish up the repairs by months’ end and start to get the Shop back in shape. More updates to follow……… By the way, Daylight Savings begins Saturday night……… Spring can’t be too far off!
Fire Notes Feb 24th

As most of you know there was a fire in the apartment on Monday Feb 4th. There was a tremendous amount of smoke and water damage primarily from the water running down through the floors going through our ceilings and into our walls. Most of the clothing was damaged from the smoke and water. Thanks to the tremendously quick response by the Belmar and Avon FD’s much worse damage was averted. All of our surfboard inventory was saved as well as our photos and memorablia. We moved quickly in the days that followed to remove all of the fixtures and hardgoods, to prevent any further damage.
We’ve started to work with our insurance company and that of our landlords to assess the value of the damage and reach a settlement as quickly as possible so that we can begin the repairs.
We’ve removed all the carpeting in preparation to begin the repairs on the walls and ceilings. After the repairs are completed we’ll repaint the entire Shop, install new carpeting and get re-stocked.
If all goes well, we’re hoping to get at least the guys and surfboard areas open by mid to later April and have the entire Shop re-opened by early May.
We’ve received hundreds of calls, messages, and e-mails from our many friends. Thank you all very much for caring…….. It’s been a tough time, but we’ll get through this too!
I’ll try to update this every few days keeping you posted on our progress…….
